Santa Barbara’s Semana Nautica Summer Sports Festival returns for 79th Year with over a dozen local athletic events scheduled from June 29 through July 10. All Semana Nautica events are free for spectators and fans.
The Semana Nautica Association is pleased to announce the sporting events that will make up the 2016 installment of Santa Barbara’s longest-running athletics festival.
Ocean Swimming at East Beach, the annual 4th of July 15K Run in Goleta, Ocean Water Polo at Stearns Wharf, Professional Beach Volleyball at the Cabrillo Bath House, and the Krazy Kardboard Kayak Race at West Beach are just a few of the exciting events that make up Santa Barbara’s Semana Nautica Summer Sports Festival.
A notable change to this year’s festival involves the popular 4th of July 15K run. The start and finish area has been moved to Hollister Elementary from San Marcos High School, and the course has been changed to include a waterfront portion along Goleta Beach.
A complete list of sporting events and dates can be found at SemanaNautica.com/Events.
Festival participants will be eligible for several awards, including the Men’s and Women’s Ocean Swimmers of the Year, Athlete of the Year, and the Jeff Farrell Award.
The Semana Nautica Association would like to thank its incredible lineup of local sponsors: Mullen and Henzell (Featuring the Mullen & Henzell 1-Mile Ocean Swim), American Riviera Bank, Deering Design, Radius Group (Gene Deering) and the Santa Barbara Independent.
