Semana Nautica Summer Sports Festival showcases 25 events over 3 weeks

Back on the beaches and local athletic venues for the 86th year, the Semana Nautica Summer Sports Festival begins in Santa Barbara this weekend. From June 21st through July 13th, the festival schedule features 25 sporting events including a CBVA beach volleyball tournament, ocean swimming races, lifeguard competitions, and a 4th of July trail run.

Other festival highlights are the return of Ocean Water Polo, the 88th Santa Barbara Tennis Open, Goleta Beach Runs, Sea Shell Regatta, and swim meets at the historic Los Baños Del Mar.

All events are free for fans and spectators.

Semana Nautica is a Santa Barbara tradition that originated in 1933 when locals organized friendly athletic competitions with United States Navy sailors from a visiting ship.

This year will be the 86th Semana Nautica.
