Jason Smith named Athlete of the Year

Santa Barbara local Jason Smith has been selected as Semana Nautica’s Athlete of the Year for his outstanding performance at the 2024 summer sports festival.

Smith competed in multiple events, highlighted by a dominant victory in the Stud Ironman competition.

A second victory came in the Ironguard Relay, complimented by a third-place finish in the Ironguard Individual.

Smith added several more strong results, placing 9th overall in the Mullen & Henzell 3-Mile Swim, and two top-15 finishes in the Reef & Run 1-Mile Swims.

An Ironman competitor and past Santa Barbara Triathlon champion, Smith, 45, adds another honor to his career.

Kyle Brill received Honorable Mention for Athlete of the Year. Brill won the Mullen & Henzell 3-Mile Swim, and placed second in two events: Reef & Run 1-Mile Swim and Semana Nautica 6-Mile Ocean Swim.
