Santa Barbara Sea Shell Association (SBSSA) hosts a one-day regatta at West Beach on Sunday, July 5th.
The Zimmerman Cup is awarded to the skipper, regardless of class, obtaining the least number of points across three races. In the case of a tie, the award goes to A, then B, then C class skippers. In place of SBSSA's usual adult race, SBSSA Alumni skippers/parents are invited to borrow club-owned boats and compete in two races. The event is an annual fundraiser for the Association and an opportunity for Alumni to relive their Sea Shell glory days. Best places for spectating is from shore at West Beach or from Stearns Wharf overlooking the harbor mouth.
Sailors pilot their Sea Shell boats during a Semana Nautica event.
